ABOUT US
A warm welcome to Pooraka Allstars Netball Club!
Pooraka Allstars Netball Club is a highly successful sporting entity, one of which is growing at an immensely rapid rate. Established in 1956, we have a rich & proud 69-year history of being run and governed by the help of our dedicated, hard-working & passionate committee members, coaches, players, umpires, volunteers and life members.
At Pooraka Netball Club we pride ourselves on being a fun & inclusive family-friendly netball community who strives to create & grow tomorrow’s next best generation of confident and competitive netballers via developing skills, promoting teamwork & displaying sportsmanship, both on and off the court.
Based in the north-eastern suburbs of South Australia, we are a Netball SA (Netball South Australia) affiliated club and actively field competitive teams of all ages & skill levels at the South Australian Districts Netball Association (SADNA) and Parafield Gardens Recreation Centre (PGRC) across all 12-months of the year, while also recently launching our Little Allstars Program for young, upcoming & aspiring netballers who aren’t quite old enough to take the court at a competitive level just yet.
Our sport does not have an “off-season”; we play two (2) seasons per competition year at both SADNA and PGRC, being Winter Season (April-September) & Summer Season (October-March) and only find ourselves having a maximum of 2-weeks break during the changeover of seasons before the following pre-season commences.
In 2020 we boasted just two competition teams with a total of 18-members registered to the club, as a result of COVID-19 almost eliminating Pooraka Netball Club’s existence from Quinlivan Road due to government restrictions imposed for contact/semi-contact sports. Despite finding ourselves in a vulnerable position, our loyal members stuck by us and were vital to maintaining Pooraka Netball Club’s legacy.
In Summer of 2021 we were fortunate enough to re-introduce a third team to our competition fixture, and as the years progressed we slowly began to rebuild the club back to a place of monetary and long term stability.
In Summer Season 2025/26 our club will boast a maximum of 15 competitive teams, which will cater to just over 135 paying members & 125+ families. Across the following Winter Season 2026 we are highly confident we will maintain, if not increase our active player count to roughly 160 players, with a predicted 18-teams to compete at Pooraka Netball Club from April of 2026 (with an extensive waitlist filling fast).
From pleated skirts & bodysuits to our current A-Line Dress and inclusive uniform, the infamous red & blue stars of Pooraka Netball Club have been home to SADNA since the association was founded in 1958 (just shy of 7-decades) and will continue to be represented by an extraordinarily vast family of talented individuals & athletes for decades to come!
